All-City Art Show to feature Marion students’ visual and performing arts (5/16-17)

The All-City Art Show features work from Marion students at all grade levels. The show will be open to the public from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 16, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 17.

Visitors will enter through the Walton Performing Arts Center, where some of the artwork will be displayed, and continue on into the art hallway to view more displays. 

The All-City Art Show features will include:

  • Interactive art experiences both days

  • Art awards presented at 1 p.m. May 17
  • On May 17: Performances by Marion Community Schools music ensembles in the Little Theatre:
    • 11 a.m.: Justice Intermediate School sixth-grade band
    • 11:30 a.m.: McCulloch Junior High jazz band
    • noon: MJH jazz choir
    • 12:30 p.m.: Marion High School varsity choir
    • 1:45 p.m.: JIS fifth-grade choir
    • 2:15 p.m.: JIS sixth-grade choir
    • 2:45 p.m.: elementary Circle the State With Song ensemble
    • 3:15 p.m.: MJH Honor Choir
    • 3:45 p.m.: MHS dance performance
    • 4:15 p.m.: MJH gospel choir
    • 5:30 p.m.: MHS bands concert (on Walton mainstage)

The All-City Art Show is part of more than a week of arts in the spotlight at Marion Community Schools:

  • Friday through Sunday, May 9-11: Peter and the Starcatcher on stage at the Walton, featuring more than a dozen Marion Community Schools students who are members of the CSA Theatre compANY (click for details)
  • Monday, May 12: McCulloch Junior High 7th grade choir concert at the MJH auditorium, 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 13: MJH 8th grade choir concert at the MJH auditorium, 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 14: MJH band concert at the Walton, 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 15: Marion High School choir concert at the Walton (time to be announced)
