Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books is an annual friendly competition hosted by Marion Public Library, open to teams from all Grant County schools. Teams are made up of students from 4th and 5th grades. Each year, the competition centers around five books that have been selected for that year.
Our Battle of the Books club reads and discusses the year's five selected books together, to prepare for the competition. This club is a great way for kids to engage more deeply with interesting texts, and to grow as readers, studying the characters, plot, setting, and more. It's also a great introduction to the types of academic competitions that will continue to be available to students at upper grade levels. And it's also fun, with families invited to cheer on our students at the annual competition!
This club is open to fourth-graders and is limited to 10 team members.
